Sherwood Schools
The City of Sherwood is proud to boast third ranked school district in the Portland metro area according to PSK12.com. What makes the school district so successful in achieving high test scores is their student to teacher ratio. The Sherwood School District is able to maintain a 25:1 ratio from the elementary schools through the high school level.
In 2006, Sherwood residents overwhelmingly voted to pass a $98 million tax bond to build a new elementary school, middle school, and expand the high school to accommodate future growth. In the Fall 2009, Edy Ridge Elementary and Laurel Ridge Middle School were opened and the school boundaries adjusted to evenly distribute students across the city.
The residents of Sherwood have put their money where there mouth is and have proven they are committed to their public school system. They understand the importance of preparing our children for a rapidly changing global economy and will continue to strive towards making the city a place people want to call home.
